ABOUT THE SESSION

There is a fundamental relationship between water and electrical power generation, commonly referred to as the energy-water nexus. As the electrification of buildings is pursued as a means to decarbonization, demands on water will increase with it. At the same time, freshwater supplies across the southwestern US have been in long-term decline while demand for water grows with rising populations. This session will describe the energy-water nexus in the context of the southwest generally and the Phoenix area specifically, including how climate change, public policy, and changing technology interact with energy and water.

Thank you to the International Institute for Sustainable Laboratories (I2SL) for sponsoring the bar this evening.
