Dr. Christina Forbes is the lead electrochemistry scientist at ElectraTect. She earned her PhD at the University of Delaware in 2016, where she studied organic synthesis and the structure of biological molecules. She comes from a diverse background in chemistry, from designing bio-inspired electrocatalysts to synthesizing non-natural amino acids to making structural switches in peptides. As a Postdoctoral Scholar at ASU, she took on laboratory management and safety responsibilities for the group, earning a Laboratory Safety Innovation Award for her lab. She joined the ElectraTect team in 2021, overseeing the chemistry research behind developing a fuel-cell-based censor for a marijuana breathalyzer. Christina endeavors to practice science communication with the general public through several non-profit organizations, including realtimeSTEAM, the American Chemical Society, and the Arizona Museum of Natural History Foundation.
