Jamie Montz spent her childhood between Boise, Idaho and Seattle. She’s recently moved to Phoenix with her husband of 21 years — and their three sons (the inspiration behind her product). The 47-year old is a first-generation American and the first college graduate in her family. She studied Business Marketing at the University of Idaho, channeling her childhood entrepreneurial interests.
Jamie and her husband moved to Seattle after graduation to jumpstart their respective careers. She worked for startups and Fortune 50 companies during the dotcom boom. It was during this time her experience in ecommerce rose, and she helped launch some of today’s well known household name brands on the internet. It was also during this time that she aggregated experience, ventured out on her own and became one of the first third-party sellers on Amazon. She sold that company and returned to the corporate world to develop and launch innovative products in the fitness category. Years later, inspiration struck and she knew she was ready to put her entrepreneurial spirit to use again, and founded her second company, The Original Stretchlace.
Six months after leaving the corporate world again, Shark Tank came calling, and the rest of The Original Stretchlace story is unfolding. The Original Stretchlace is the only elastic stretch shoelace that looks like classic shoelaces. It works on all types of shoes and boots, turning all lace-ups into slip-ons!
