Joe is a skilled communicator with a background in journalism. Joe originally began his career at the Houston Business Journal, where he covered the Bayou City's startup and innovation ecosystem, health care, finance, Fortune 500s and the city's economic development initiatives. He was awarded the Newspaper Association of America's 30 Under 30 Recipient, and was regularly asked to speak on panels, give talks and provide insight into startup media strategy. Today, Joe leads the communications efforts for the Phoenix Bioscience Core, a collaborative partnership between the city of Phoenix, Arizona's three public universities and a number of other public and private organizations focused on making downtown Phoenix the core of the city's life science ecosystem. Home to more than a dozen private companies and the highest concentration of researchers in the state, the PBC acts as a center of gravity for all of the state's life science translational research.
