Kelly’s love for the outdoors and interest in water led her to become an environmental engineer. She has broad experience working as a consultant and project manager and currently serves as President and Managing Partner of a startup company H2Optic Insights that commercializes innovative optical fiber technologies for biofilm control, in situ resources production, and contaminant removal. H2Optic Insights has received several NASA STTR awards and additional non-dilutive funding (> $1.3M). Kelly holds a M.S. Environmental Engineering from UMass Amherst and a B.S. Civil Engineering from Union College, Schenectady, NY. She loves engineering but finds accounting and tax law equally fascinating and volunteers during tax season as an IRS-certified income tax preparer to provide free assistance to low-income, disabled, and elderly taxpayers.
