Engineering Lead & Partial Owner

Larry Miller is the Lead Engineer and partial owner of Vapor Wheels. He received an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from Brigham Young University Provo, and a master’s degree in industrial and systems engineering from the University of Florida. Larry started his career in Boeing’s space shuttle program at Kennedy Space Center. There he served as a systems engineer working specifically on cranes, doors, and elevators, and he trained as a lifting and handling engineer for space shuttle payloads. Following his time at Boeing, Larry continued in the same industry becoming a mechanical design engineer for United Space Alliance (USA), with his responsibilities focused on the support and improvement of NASA’s ground support equipment. After a 7-year tenure at Kennedy Space Center, Larry made a move to Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) in San Antonio, Texas. There he served 8 years as a research engineer, and industries that benefitted from his R&D work include aerospace, oil and gas, power, and nuclear. During his time at SwRI he published research papers for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission on used fuel storage, helped progress the understanding of stress corrosion cracking, and helped design a first of its kind compressor for a Supercritical CO2 power plant.   While contemplating his next career step, Larry learned about Delta Technology and was introduced to Lyle Rusanowski, Delta’s CEO/Owner. Larry joined the Delta team in July of 2018 and moved into the Director of Engineering position in March of 2019. In March 2021, Larry joined the ownership team at Delta and became Delta’s new COO.   Larry works closely with the engineering team at Delta and uses his knowledge of engineering to drive solid concept creation and engineering proficiency with his team. He also directs the project management and organization at Delta and is always pushing his teams toward continual improvement.   While working at Delta, Larry was presented with the opportunity to help start Vapor Wheels, a wheelchair wheel company focused on opening up the wheel industry and offering choice to an under-served population, the wheelchair user. Larry is the Lead Engineer at Vapor Wheels and spends his efforts trying to find ways to better serve the wheel needs of wheelchair users.   Of all his accomplishments, Larry considers his family to be his biggest success. He is a father of six children which requires him to have a healthy work-life balance. He always strives to be at his family’s activities whether it be a kids soccer game or a Sunday family lunch.
