Innovating to solve a huge problem is what Mijail Zegalo is all about. He is tackling the enormous issue of plastic pollution through his company, “Greenloop.” He will be utilizing a unique solution called “plastic wood,” specifically designed to construct furniture and decks.
Additionally, Mijail is currently attending ASU Thunderbird Global Management. He was chosen to participate in The Big Pitch, The Ultimate College Challenge competition; three students from each of the colleges, GCU, ASU, and MCCD, pitch to win. The competition took place at Venture Café Phoenix.
Mijail says of his experience,
“Being able to participate in the Big Pitch was an incredible opportunity that allowed me to embark on an immersive entrepreneurial journey. Firstly, I was filled with excitement upon being selected as an exceptional entrepreneur at ASU, representing my university in this competition. The preparation leading up to the pitch was crucial to fully embracing the event.
The pitch competition transcended a mere contest; it provided a platform for networking with fellow entrepreneurs who were also shaping their own companies. Establishing these connections is vital for our collective success in pursuing our respective ventures. The event organization was exemplary, and we felt like the stars of the night, receiving ample support and recognition.
With my business idea, Greenloop, I was honored to be awarded the people’s choice. Winning at the Big Pitch means more than just securing funding; it also adds credibility. Consequently, I intend to allocate the funds toward covering the fees of an accelerator program. This strategic step will amplify our outreach and enable us to expand our network, fostering invaluable growth opportunities.”
